Lake Shore Post 105 has long been a leader in service to the community of North East and has been closely associated with the local fire department through the years. The Legion and fire department joined hands to organize
the annual Cherry Festival and parade. The Firemen's Cherry Festival went on to become the major community event that it is today.

Other Post activities to benefit the community include the proper observance of Memorial Day with services and a parade, Veteran's Day and the American Legion Birthday. The Post benefits the area's children with one of the area's largest Easter Egg Hunts (nearly 3,000 colored eggs), a Safe Halloween night, and an annual Children's Christmas Party. The Post also sponsors area youth to attend the Keystone Boy's and Girl's States and State Police Youth Week. Lake Shore Post 105 is active in American Legion programs to promote Americanism, Law and Order, Children and Youth and Community Service and has won state awards annually in at least one (and in some cases all) of these catagories.

American Legion Lake Shore Post 105 continues to conduct an intensive membership campaign. Current membership stands at 608 Class A, Life and Paid-Up-For-Life members. Post meetings are held at the Post home starting promptly at 8 PM on the second Monday of each month and are regularly well-attended. Active members of the American Legion, Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion visiting the area are welcome and encouraged to stop in to Lake Shore Post 105's Post home.
